Marion Smith Mini book with Box

Some weeks back I posted a projected I had done using one of  Marion Smith's project printables.  When my Correspondence Collection came out through Meg's Garden I wanted to do the project again with some of the 12 in papers. 

I wanted to make this one a little more elaborate than the first. To achieve this I used some of the wonderful lace from the Meg's Garden store, as well as the Mini Rose Braid. 

I love using the paper roses and big red paper flower with the small paper rosebuds. Those vibrant leaves just set the floral arrangement off nicely. I added a few of the vintage brads and of course there needed to be a butterfly from the transparency sheets available at Meg's Garden. The latch also came from Meg's Garden and it was a tough choice considering the range.

Jewellery Stand

I had a jewellery stand made for me which has been sitting with a raw finish for months. I wanted to frame it and paint it, but I have little inspiration.  

While at the locale hardware store I came across this rather simple moulding and the rest sort of developed in my mind. So I made the frame and painted the whole thing black.

I pulled out some paints and ink pads and got right in to painting the moulding.

I found some gears and cogs in my collection of embellishments and add those. So glad this is raw any more and so happy with the final product.

Holiday Projects: Kaisercraft Desk Organiser

As I am no longer working and have finished my studies for 2012 I pondered what I could do to keep my self busy over the holidays before my studies recommence in February.  I set out a bit of a to-do list last week and work out if there were any supplies I might need, then realizing a have a rather large arsenal of craft 'stuff', started choosing papers for my first couple projects.

I had an unmade Kaisercraft Desk Organiser that has been sitting on a craft shelf for a few months now, so that was SO getting made up.The fist one I made about 12 months ago was a little too blue for me, which as given to my niece. I wanted to do some thing a bit more grown up, that would be a good canvas for me to try out some new techniques I have developed (mostly in my head) over the last 12 months.

As I have been working on this project I have been adding progress photos to My Instagram which I will also do with other projects in the future as well. These progress pictures are also added to the KJWstudio Facebook Page ('like' the page to get regular updates in your Facebook news feed)

Once the organiser is completed I will be sure to put some pictures of of the finished product.
