A touch of Elegance

Hello all and welcome to another post on my blog.

A few months back I was asked to my a card for a friend of my brothers. Knowing that the recipient liked Art Nouveau and that she has a wonderful expressive side I created this for her.

I have had the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante for a while and it wasn't until now that I saw the roses in the one paper. I was a great easel card to make I am really liked it. What do you think?

Adventures in Winter

So before I injured me knee I was quite active and going out a lot. However it was during winter and I had to rug up really well to make sure I didn't get sick. Some mornings were rather brisk and required covering my nose to stop getting a very cold face. As usual I was doing my photo journals of my days.

An Extra Wide Mini Album

Hi there crafters, I am so happy to have another blog post for you. I know I am have been a little quieter that usually. For the last 4 weeks I have been on bed rest by doctors orders after hurting my right knee rather badly. There was even talk of surgery at one point but that was re assessed thankfully.

To keep my self a bit distracted from the obvious difficulties that this injury has caused I have been doing what little crafting I can. I also had a custom order which I was able to work on. Unfortunately I made a mistake when creating the spine and as the title of this post indicates, I made it extra wide, seems I wasn't reading my rulers measurements as well as I thought I was. I personally blame being tired.

All was not wasted, I had some extra supplies and was able to make the custom order correctly. As for the mistake, I kept it for myself and made THIS....

Isn't it gorgeous?!

Here is the flip through video. Remember to like, comment and subscribe!

How I do Typography

Hello everyone and welcome to another blog post.
This one is a little different as it isn't cards or layouts or even mini albums. This post is for my Midori fans asked about my typograph I starting showing in some of the facebook groups. But scrapbookers and cards makers don't despair I am sure you will get some thing out of this too, so stick around.

A little bit of history about how I can to do letter form. I have been doing this since I was about 10 years old but I took a few years hiatus but started up again last year when my psychologist recommended I use the skill for my depression and stress management.

These are some of the pages I did last year.

This year after becoming enamoured with Midoris and started making my my own inserts I started working on these quotes.

Ok so now down to the how do I do it.

Now to where I get my inspiration:

People I follow on Instagram

really like Tammy's stuff as it is very free and she does not come from a graphics typography background.

You can also just do google searches for typography. There are also design books on calligraphy and typography.

I hope you like this and that it inspires you to give it a try.

Another Mini Album

Hi there again everyone. While I have been on my medical leave, which ends soon, I have been doing some projects for the hell of it. A few weeks back I posted another Mini Album which inspired me to make another using some of my Kaisercraft paper pads. I am in a de-stash mode at the present and am working on clearing out old papers/collection.

This is my newest one using the 75cent collection of which I had 3 paper pads and some of the collectables.

Here are some 'In the making' photos from my instagram

Harry Potter's Marauders Map

Hello crafters

About 7 weeks ago I realised something wasn't right with myself and went and saw my Doc. After a bit of a lengthy discussion, tears and anxiety attacks, it was realised that I was not coping. My doc put me on medical leave and we arranged for me to see my ever-so supportive and helpful psychologist to work on the depression and related issues that have been causing massive problems.

While on medical leave, I have been getting into doing different projects and stepping out from the usual work I have been doing for the past few years. This has included making the mini album and also doing some garment/clothing design and sewing. I am also going on adventures during the week when I would otherwise be sitting at home alone designing. During the start of this treatment and therapy I rewatching the Harry Potter movies for the upteenth time and got an itch to make the Marauders map. After some research I found two really good available versions which I have linked below.

Making the Harry Potter Marauder's Map was a hell of a lot of fun. Also gave me a good opportunity to test out my new A3 printer, which did a splendid job.

The smaller map is from here
The Larger map is from here (this is a french site so use a translater)

Vampire Hunter Journal

So creative ones, Vampire Hunter Diary project, who's up for seeing what I created here?!

Back on Octorber 2013 Michelle Moony, The Paper Addiction, released this video of her Vampire Hunter Journal Found! I loved it! the great thing was it was a free printable what Michelle linked to in her video.

You can find the printable at
Hover over the "Resources" tab (don't click) and wait for "Downloads" to show. Down the end of the page you will find some variations of the items in this project.

Vampire Sketchbook Pages
Vampire Journal Pages
Vampire maps

There are no instructions or guides just the content. This leaves things open for you to be so very very creative with this project. Which I just love too!

Here is what I did.
Video flip through of the booklets at the end of the post.

Mini Album for myself.

Hey there crafters

I have been asked to make a mini album which I am over the moon about. However, I realised I have not made one of these for myself in about a year and thought it was high time I did so. On that motivational point, I decided to go through my somewhat large stash of 12x12 papers that I have collected over the years and made a point of ensuring that this album was not going to be a "collection/themed" album. The reason for this is, well, I knew straight off I did not have enough of a collection or theme of papers to do the entire album.

I won't be listing the papers and who designed them or what company they come from, mostly because all the bottom strips got thrown away after I made the album.
I am sure if you asked around some one can help you with the relevant information about a particular paper I have used.

As usual, there is a flip through youtube video at the end of the blog post.

So instead of using Kathy Ortas "hidden hinged" spine I decided to go with the stack method. This, I find, gives a better strength and stability to the spine and pages. It also has the advantages, for me anyway, of giving me an extra page to add.

For now I am not to sure when I will actually use this mini album but I at least have this AWESOME album for future photo journaling.

The one thing I did want to do with this album for myself was add lots of space in the album, so there are a lot of folds and matts and paper clips to add more things to.

To see the rest of the album have a watch of this.

Thanks for watching and I hope you come back and see what new stuff I have been creating.
