Meg's Garden DT: Bike Cogs

I have some of the Bike Cogs Mini Pack S121 left over so I put it to good use making this slightly more elaborate masculine card.

The Small rectangular Parisian frame fr005 was painted black and then inked a little with copper and brinze versa ink. I coated it in clear embossing powder and ended up with some great texture and color effect.
I wanted to have a bit  more of a flare to this card  so I cut out the background frame with the Silhouette Cameo and inked the edges. To break to blandness of the center I added a clock face from Old World Time 1037Old World Time 1037 and the metal charm.

Scrapbook Creations Blog Guest Post

Earlier this year I was approached to create some cards and give a "series of tips for making awesome cards". I proceeded to firstly panic and then got my self together and made 5 cards with different styles and layouts. Writing about them was difficult at first but then I settled in to writing as if teaching a class, explaining what the tip or technique was and why I use it. The Post was published here on Scrapbook Creations Blog on the 12th and 14th of March 2014. Apparently I sent through SO much content it had to be split.

Here are some snippets of the cards but been sure to check out the full blog posts over at Scrapbook Creations to see the articles.

Marion Smith Mini book with Box project

I watch a lot of Marion Smith's Youtube videos and like a lot of her designs and collections, but I have never bought any of her printables as I have SOOOO much paper and craft stuff! I saw this little project on her youtube channel and saw the printable was only $5 and I could use a lot of the stock I already had. The video for the project is embedded at the bottom of this post.

It was so simple and easy to make (with a few little hiccups along the way) and I have so much fun making this little project that I plan on making it again with some other papers.

Meg's Garden DT: A wedding day

I mistakenly ordered some flowers but thought I would use them with Meg's Garden's new paper collection: Damask Garden. Using the Blue Belle Jardiniere P6380 and some old music script paper I had in my paper draw I put together this.

The frame is a Silhouette cut file which I ended up misting with Vintage photo ink and a bit on bronze over the top to give it that aged look. The Fairy Viola Pink flowers came as a sprig, one of which I pulled apart to frame the photo a bit more of my paternal grandmother on her wedding day. I really love the blue grey and pink.

Meg's Garden DT: Damask Butterflies

Meg's Garden has released a new collection titled The Damask Garden Collection.  As part of the promotion of this collection the design team got together and created some projects.

This has to be one of my favorite cards so far this year.

for my patterned paper and cut out the one of the pretty labels on the one paper in the collection. I also incorporated a piece of  French Writing Ephemera 3377 and More Butterflies Tr004 in the card.

I painted one of the Butterfly oval laser frame fr003 cream and inked the edges to age the frame a little bit. I also cut a pretty frame design o my Silhouette Cameo to put behind the frame.

Small Latte Paper Roses latte roses are a basic addition to the composition but I highlighted the with the Green paper leaves - sm gr leaves sm and added those very pretty Vintaj Woodland Leaf Charm p275 for a little bit of exquisite.

I added the Coffee Burlap/Jute 38mm burco to break up with intense green in the background.

Family Album: School days

This is an old photo of my father and his younger brother in their school uniforms. I did this layout mostly to keep busy and to add pages to my father's memory file as it was a little on the thin side.

Family Album: Capture life's moments

Lately I have been playing with mixed media a little bit. This is one I am pretty happy with so far. I recall the moment well. It was June, we were down at Walpole where my mother and brother lived and it was COLD!

I used a lot of different elements but they all work well together.
Another page for the family album finished.
