Getting back in to the swing of things.

Hello followers and welcome to another post today. I know that it has been a while since my last post which I am very sorry for. I have been taking some time to organise things to accommodate my wheelchair "Serenity". I am starting to get back into some craft work as my pain levels are easier to manage because of Serenity.

During the adjustment and adaptation period I had some lovely friends help me out with various things to help with my mental state and wellbeing.  To thank them I made some easel cards. There was also a birthday girl amongst the list, who was so kind to take me out on her day off when she was working. I was very thankful to all who were there for me and helped out and I wanted them to know that I was so very thankful.

For these cards I have used the Kaisercraft After Five flocked paper which I totally love but am running short of but it is a beautiful paper with its richness.



 

The wood embellishments were what I had lying around some kaisercraft and others I have no idea who made them. But I painted them black and then coated them in Crackle Accents which is a fav of mine. I then went over the embellishment in spots with some silver and copper pigment ink on a dauber. Really loved that effect.



Butterflies, well you know me and butterflies. the brighter the better!



And there needed to be some bright flowers.



I am rather pleased with how they all came out and grateful for the therapeutic effect that the crafting hand on my mental health and physical wellbeing.

I have some layout plans which are sitting waiting for me to get through the list of other things I need to get done now that I am in less pain and more mobile. SO WATCH THIS SPACE!

Meg's Garden Design Team Project: Butterfly Book Kit

Hello there crafters 

I am finally getting back into the swing of things after recovery, Chrissy, New Years and also moving house. Seems I like to jam a lot of things in to a small space of time. 

All that said, I still found some time to make a mini album with the Butterfly Book Kit available from Meg's Garden. 

The mini is of course Kathy Orta's All Occasions Mini of which I have made about 10 in all and really do enjoy creating them. I have added a youtube video at the bottom of this post so you can see the mini in action.  The one difference is I used a different hinge method which I actually prefer to the hidden hinge.

I pulled out all of my flowers from my Meg's Garden stash and went a little nuts, but really love the final product. I added a few Kaisercraft wood embellishments which are covers in crackle paint from Rangers to add to the overall feel I was going for. 

I even went as far as to add flowers and leave to the pages on the inside. And using the stacking hinge method meant I had a lot more space between the pages to add things. 

I included a lot of model paste stenciling and also some ink stenciling to give the pages some more dimension.

Hello readers!

So a few weeks back I get a call from a family member at about 7pm while I was at work. Work was hectic so I didn't answer but sent a txt a little later on asking if everything was ok. 

Family member wanted an urgent birthday card for a friend. Phew! 

So I made this for his friend. 

What can I say I love using butterflies as much as I do gears and cogs.

Marion Smith Mini book with Box

Some weeks back I posted a projected I had done using one of  Marion Smith's project printables.  When my Correspondence Collection came out through Meg's Garden I wanted to do the project again with some of the 12 in papers. 

I wanted to make this one a little more elaborate than the first. To achieve this I used some of the wonderful lace from the Meg's Garden store, as well as the Mini Rose Braid. 

I love using the paper roses and big red paper flower with the small paper rosebuds. Those vibrant leaves just set the floral arrangement off nicely. I added a few of the vintage brads and of course there needed to be a butterfly from the transparency sheets available at Meg's Garden. The latch also came from Meg's Garden and it was a tough choice considering the range.

A card made from the things on my desk

I had some time to kill one day and for once had no outstanding projects on my desk. As a result I assembled a card using what was within arms reach and in sight.

I found a butterflier from Meg's Gardens transparency collection under my craft mat and some brads and Paper roses lying around the desk. The laser cut frame was up on a shelf in front of me, which I painted and inked. The Meadow flower and leaves was on the same shelf. I had a couple sheets of Meg's Garden Damask Garden collection lying around as well. 

Now I just need to find someone to give it too.

Meg's Garden DT: Damask Butterflies

Meg's Garden has released a new collection titled The Damask Garden Collection.  As part of the promotion of this collection the design team got together and created some projects.

This has to be one of my favorite cards so far this year.

I used The Damask Garden Mini Pack S120

for my patterned paper and cut out the one of the pretty labels on the one paper in the collection. I also incorporated a piece of  French Writing Ephemera 3377 and More Butterflies Tr004 in the card.

I painted one of the Butterfly oval laser frame fr003 cream and inked the edges to age the frame a little bit. I also cut a pretty frame design o my Silhouette Cameo to put behind the frame.

Small White paper Roses Wh Paper

Small Latte Paper Roses latte roses are a basic addition to the composition but I highlighted the with the Green paper leaves - sm gr leaves sm and added those very pretty Vintaj Woodland Leaf Charm p275 for a little bit of exquisite. 

I added the Coffee Burlap/Jute 38mm burco to break up with intense green in the background.

Spring is in the air

The last few weeks have been a little stressful , what with my up and coming Chemistry Exam in another couple weeks. I have a couple rules with regards to my studies which are not limited to; no studying on the weekend (this is relax time), if I have done substantial study during the day I am allowed to craft in the evening while watching TV. This is what I have created the last few craft sessions. 

 Lots of butterflies and bird cages, and very spring. I wonder what the psychology behind it all might be. Either way I had a lot of fun making these and I may make a few more as I still have lots of butterflies sitting in the little zip lock baggie.
