A Friendship Appreciation gift

Hello Crafters

By happy accident a friend of mine and I celebrated our one year FB anniversary since we refound one another after a few years of disconnection.

Through the last 12 months we have both found much comfort and compassion in our newly sparked friendship. With a new appreciation for one another passions and ideas and perspectives. A month or so ago I had in mind to make her some thing, because, well that is just who I am.

I made her one of my mini albums, in a steampunk style because I know she likes that theme. There is a video at the end of the blog post of the flip through.

Cafe au Lait: A steampunk card

Hello crafters and passer-bys, I hope you are all well and looking for some inspiration.

I have another card in the Cafe au Lait collection which I made in a bit of a steampunk theme. Rather than doing is traditionally for a guy, I made this one for a girl.

 I used the cardmakers set for this card which, I feel, gives a good size to work with. The Kaisercraft bodice was coated in some antique bronze crackle paint and the gears in the background where given the old rust treatment. The one thing that I could not get to show up well on the photo was a layer of clear crackle I put down on the background before adding all the delicious elements.

The Coming of Age of a Young Man.

Hello there crafters. Welcome to my blog again. 

Today I have a treat for you. My nephew turned 18 this weekend. I have been very busy the last couple weeks, but I whipped this card up last week for the birthday celebration.

As you may have worked out by now, I love easel cards. They are so much fun to make, I find as you get to adorn the inside of the card as well. 

The card is 6x4 inches and I made the envelope for it specifically as the card had a bit of depth to it that I didn't want to try and jam into a standard envelope.

For the gears I used this technique to emulate rust.

Custome Card: Jo's Birthday card

Once or twice a year I hear from a friend in Western Australia who asks for a birthday card for his partner and sometimes a sister.

Here is Jo's birthday card for this year, I think it is the 3rd in a row. 

I tend to get free reign with what I can make. I know Jo and she is a one of a kind, which is what I work with. This year I went with a steampunk style with a bold and defined feel as Jo is not a frilly girly girl, which I can relate to making my job rather simple. 

I have used Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante, which I have had sitting in my paper collection for a couple years waiting for the perfect project to use it. Some Prima Market gears that were painted with Tim Holtz distress daubers (love the metallics). The acetate is a quarter pages from a Kaisercraft acetate page and the wood flourish is also from Kaisercraft which was painted black with Glossy crackle of the surface.
