Birthday number 38!

Hello crafters,

Thank you so much for being here and reading this. Life has been super busy and I have had little time for crafting which is sad. I did however get a chance in the last few weeks to have some spare moments here and there.

I finally got around to doing my 2016 birthday layout. It was such a wonderful time it was so important for me to record it.

A Birthday Card and a Book Cover

I made this for a new friend who has had a birthday recently.

I also passed on one of my hand bound books as I have SOOO many of them and as this friend does draw I thought she might like it.

I actually made this book cover well over a year ago and did not like how it come out. To resolve this I coated the entire cover in gesso and started again.

I found a crimson spray in my stash and totally love it so using that and some black ink, I ended up with a VERY moody end result and loved it.

Now because I use sprays which are essentially ink you cannot seal the surface with matt medium or anything like that as it just rehydrates the ink and starts moving it around which was what happened the first time I did this cover. SO, what did I use? Hair spray.... and THEN sealed it with matt medium which worked a blast.

I had to relearning coptic stitch to bind the book because I haven't made a bound book in a while. Interestingly enough I seemed to have improved on the method a bit and I have no idea why or how. I am just going with it.

Let me know what you think by asking any questions.

No 36 layout

Last weekend was my birthday and due to being ill for the last 5 and some months and surgery 2 weeks ago, nothing big was planned as we really had no idea how I would be feeling.

In the end I got a free breakfast at Paleo Cafe, walked around Tea Tree Plaza, got some Pixar toys and bought the obligatory cake and went home. This for me was a huge day and I enjoyed every minute of it. Yesterday I did my usual birthday layout to add to my scrapbook collection.

Heidi Swapp Make pretty Stuff Down Under After Class Challenge

In early November I joined many Australian crafters in Heidi Swapp's Aussie tour "Making Pretty Stuff down Under"
After Heidi arrived safely back home she announced an after class challenge to those interested.  "Create a project( layout, memory file, card or OTP) using at least 5 items from any of the 3 kits"

I entered with these two layouts.

Astonishingly enough I actually won a prize for my entries too! Epiphany Crafts round tools.

Birthday present and Card

So for the last 3 years a friend and I have been making birthday presents for each other. This years installment by myself was this.

This is a kodama, a tree spirit from a Miyazaki animation Princess Mononoke. He is made from glow in the dark sculpey. I made a bunch of these which I will blog about later this week.

To accompany the little kodama, I made a never ending card also the infinity card.

Birthday 34 and Road Trip

Finally got around to doing my lay out for my birthday and the road trip I took for my birthday. Really like the Periwinkle collection from Kaisercraft, even though it is so very not my usual style. I like how these came out, hope you like too.

More and More Birthday Cards

This is another birthday card I did for a work colleague for this week. She likes pink and butterflies so I work with those and some up with some thing rather pretty in the end. I only hope she likes it.

Wire Sculpture

This was the wire sculpture a friend of mine made for my birthday.  She is all sorts of awesome!

My Birthday Card

I received a lovely card from Margaret this year for my birthday. Margaret did a wonderful job at making the card pretty but in my style and I thought, instead of blogging the card all over again I would send you all to the source and let her talk about the card.

Birthday Adventures 2012

Each year I try and come up with an adventure for my birthday, be it getting acrylic nails done for the first (and last) time, planning a picnic (which never works out), or to just wonder around a shopping centre I am not familiar with. This is was the latter on the list, which turned out VERY good, as it seems that Nerf guns are a plenty in the North Eastern suburbs. What ever gets plans however, is ALWAYS preceded by Birthday Crepes (TM) at Mitcham Shopping Centre. More specifically Banana Nuttella Crepes with cream and ice cream, and due to their size this crepe is shared between two people, for fear of Rolly_Polly'ness.

SOOO GOOOD!

The purpose of this food stuff is to give fuel for the commencement of shopping mall walking and well shopping.

Two new NERF guns for the cabinet!

I beautiful jewelery bodice stand from and Op shop.

I also was sent a one of a kind wire sculpture from a good friend of mine in Perth, I will take pictures of this once I have written my last exam next week. I also believe it is a item that requires its own blog entry.

Yesterday I also received a present from my darling brother as well as a Buzz Lightyear Bubble gun that I have been searching for for a while now. Again, there will be pictures.

The day after my birthday, last Saturday, we also took a road from up North to see some craft fairs that were one. Unfortunately the craft fairs weren't any good, but the drive was great. I took a few snaps along the way too.
