Adventures and classes

I am off to Melbourne for a few days for an exciting trip to the Paperific Expo. I am sure to have heaps of photos and stories and new inspired ideas when I get back, which means lots of blogging.

For those not aware, I will be teaching some card and layout classes at the Adelaide Kaisercraft outlet store at 87 Unley rd, Parkside mid October and early November. For the October class I will be focusing on using older collections to create some dynamic but simple masculine cards. Spaces are limited so if you are intersted please call (08) 83579901 to book your spot.  I will give more details about my November class closer to the date.

Velvet Ensemble card

A friend ask me to create a birthday card for his partner and well this is what I came up with on Monday night.
I am very please with the out come. Everything is from Kaisercraft. Velvet Ensemble Collection for the papers and labels and some of the Timeless Collectables for the butterflies. The feathers are not a Kaisercraft product but I was able to find a pack sitting in one of the sale bins at Kaisercraft Adelaide.

The last week I have managed to find time to make some thing and be creative.

First up is a butterfly from Kaisercraft's Beyond the Page projects, well really it is a left over bit from one of the BTP projects that was being thrown out at work.


I said I would get a picture taken of the Star Fold card from last week opened. I really like this card and think it is a great idea for Christmas card as it can be added to the tree.



This weeks card class was a multi fold card. I am stil trying to get through my Sween Nothings paper pad so I was using that and some of the collectables. The card turned out very pretty for me.

Thursday class: Star fold card

Due to work commitments I have started to go to my card making classes on Thursday mornings. Last weeks card was a bit of fun, great for Christmas card, as they can double as tree ornaments. This class I did make a Christmas styled one, but just went through some of what papers I had lefts over. I will post up another photo of the card opened up, showing the star fold.

I do miss the group from Friday Mornings but do like the group on Thursday mornings.

MORE scrapbooking

So I have been a busy girl on the weekend. Here are the fruits of my creative labor.

This would have to be my favorite layout of ALL my work, and not because it is a photo of my self. It was a difficult layout to start but once I had the right elements for the layout it all seemed to flow and comes together VERY well

Before I left Perth in 2010 I did a couple photo shoots with the wonderful Peter Bowdidge http://www.peterbowdidge.com/
I went back to visit Perth in 2011 and we did another photoshoot. These pages are in chronological.








I have also started to go through all my pictures of cats that I have taken for the last few years and never actually printed out, and will start working on layouts and pages for them.
This one is of Crystal, I took these photos back in 2000 back when I had a film camera.

Scrapbook Sundays

I have bit a little preoccupied with my studies lately and have neglected my blogging. I have taken break from my book learning to do some creative stuff at well, which I find important to keep my sanity. For the last 4 weeks a friend and I have spent every Sunday from about 9 am through to 10 or 11 pm crafting, while we go through about 5 or 6 movies in that time.I first session saw us watching a lot of post apocalyptic films, which is ALWAYS fun I have been catching up of scrapbooking many of the photos I have accumulated over the years and done nothing with and the friend is putting together a paper crafted Pulse Rifle replica from "Alien". By the end of my study week I am very much looking forward to my crafting Sundays.

The first weekend I completed some layouts I have started in my Monday Night scrapbooking classes with Helen Clifton




I then started to go through my collection of photos of the rest of my belly dance costumes I have made.

Friday Card Class: Spring Card

A couple weeks back we worked on Spring Cards, which is basically a self standing card using Origami techniques really. The one I made in class was sent to a friend who's husband had passed away.

Kaisercraft June Scrap and Chat

So the last Saturday of June was the next installment of the Scrap n Chat technique classes. This session was dedicated to flower making, which many of us are very keen on learning rather than buying
We started off with some basic flowers, and then got in to the more complex bloomes, working our way up to the Tim Holtz Rose (which there is not a picture of I am sorry). My favourite would have the be the last one, it was SO pretty I couldn't put it on a card on the day, have saved it for another project.

Last weeks Card: Joy Fold

Firstly, Many people as what does "joy fold" mean. Here is the explanation:

That card was created by Valerie Stangle, and here is her explanation for the name of the card

"One day I made a traditional folding card utilizing this fun fold on the front of the card and posted it on a popular stamping website. It became known as the Joy-fold because that card was intended for my good friend, Joy, as I stamped her name on the front of the card."

Ebook Custom Cover

I have had an ebook reader for about a year, luckily I am able to also watch video on it as well. I made a cover for the reader when I first got it, but soon realised that it was a bit awkward to watch video on it when out at a cafe or shopping center as I would have to hold the reader. So I set out to design and make an A-frame ebook cover.




I had an old diary cover that I notices my reader would fit very comfortably into after ripping out all the internal pages

I made a selection of paper to cover the out side of the cover, I didn't have to do this but I wanted to make the cover look nice and clean.


I found some lovely soft leather that I added down the spine of the cover.


As I wanted the ebook to be able to stand on its own I knew I needed to have the reader attached to a backboard that would be hinged on the back on the cover, to be able to remove the ebook from the cover for I secured elastic on each corner of the back board to hold the ebook in place. To keep the cover closed while the ebook would be in my bag I also added an elastic strap around the length of the cover.


And here we have the final product. I am very pleased with this project, as it has been sitting in my "to do" box for months.
