Unexpected birthday Card

Hi there crafters and readers/followers of my blog.

I hope you are all well and creating up a storm these days. Seem to have an excess of creating energy right now, which is tough when I have an exam in little over a weeks time. 

Todays show and tell is a card I made out of the blue a while ago now. Love it when inspiration hits and I get to make someones day.

I made this impromptu card for a friends birthday. I had been a bit involved in my studies and had not realised the birthday had come up. One afternoon I created this and popped it in the post. Few days later received an elated message via Facebook with a thank you for the card. 

In my hast to make and post the card however I forgot to photograph the card! Luckily I was able to get some photos to show you the card.

Greetings crafter

I am finding some time for crafting these day as a breather from my studies. This particular card I made the day after I completed an arduous assignment for my university course. It was so lovely to get stuck in to some paper craft.

A dear friend had her birthday the day after I made the card and we had every intention to catch up however life happened. I was able to catch up with her a couple weeks later for a yarn day and gave it to her then.

I haven't worked with flowers and leaves for a while, so there were a few brief moments of abject terror that I was making a total mess. However, I rather liked the end product. 

I seem to be drawn to the aqua and teal tones these days as I feel they work well with for white and creams in the papers. Of course I edged elements with Tim Holtz Vintage photo because it is my go to.

Birthday number 38!

Thank you so much for being here and reading this. Life has been super busy and I have had little time for crafting which is sad. I did however get a chance in the last few weeks to have some spare moments here and there.

I finally got around to doing my 2016 birthday layout. It was such a wonderful time it was so important for me to record it.

Hello create types! Welcome, welcome. Time for a cuppa of tea or coffee, whatever your poison, and to sit and see what I can inspire you with today.

I have some dear friends down in Manjimup, Western Australia, who apart from having the birth of their son only a week and a half ago they both celebrate their own birthday a day after one another this weekend. More cards were in order. This is what they got.

I am currently resting up with a injured knee. To pass the time I decided to make a few cards for those in my life who have recently had or are having birthdays.

A Cricket fan at 13.

Hi crafters 

I was asked to make a card for a young man who was turning 13. I was told he was into basket ball and cricket which made my mind spring to creative mode. 

I ended up making an easel card with the theme of cricket. 

Hoping the young man like the card and best of wishes to him.

Continuing with the card creation for my friend.

How is everyone today? 

I got a card to show you.

Each year a friend on Perth asks me to make a few birthday cards for him for August. he has three birthday one after the other over three days with his very own being RIGHT in the the middle of his partners and sisters. CRAZY.

This was I made this year for his partner. 

Love making easel cards still.

A Birthday Card and a Book Cover

I made this for a new friend who has had a birthday recently. 

I also passed on one of my hand bound books as I have SOOO many of them and as this friend does draw I thought she might like it. 

I actually made this book cover well over a year ago and did not like how it come out. To resolve this I coated the entire cover in gesso and started again. 

I found a crimson spray in my stash and totally love it so using that and some black ink, I ended up with a VERY moody end result and loved it. 

Now because I use sprays which are essentially ink you cannot seal the surface with matt medium or anything like that as it just rehydrates the ink and starts moving it around which was what happened the first time I did this cover. SO, what did I use? Hair spray.... and THEN sealed it with matt medium which worked a blast. 

 I had to relearning coptic stitch to bind the book because I haven't made a bound book in a while. Interestingly enough I seemed to have improved on the method a bit and I have no idea why or how. I am just going with it.

The Coming of Age of a Young Man.

Hello there crafters. Welcome to my blog again. 

Today I have a treat for you. My nephew turned 18 this weekend. I have been very busy the last couple weeks, but I whipped this card up last week for the birthday celebration.

As you may have worked out by now, I love easel cards. They are so much fun to make, I find as you get to adorn the inside of the card as well. 

The card is 6x4 inches and I made the envelope for it specifically as the card had a bit of depth to it that I didn't want to try and jam into a standard envelope.

For the gears I used this technique to emulate rust.

A birthday card from the archives

Crafters and readers, look what I found in my photo collection!

I made this back in August I think of 2014 as a custom card for a friend and forgot all about it thanks to being ill. 

I still love making easel cards. You can just do so much with them.

No 36 layout

Last weekend was my birthday and due to being ill for the last 5 and some months and surgery 2 weeks ago, nothing big was planned as we really had no idea how I would be feeling.

In the end I got a free breakfast at Paleo Cafe, walked around Tea Tree Plaza, got some Pixar toys and bought the obligatory cake and went home. This for me was a huge day and I enjoyed every minute of it. Yesterday I did my usual birthday layout to add to my scrapbook collection.

A Birthday Card For a Sister

I made a card for a friends sister. It was well received. 

This was a very simple care and I used Prima's Cartographer collection which I haven't used yet.
